Museum Day (in Jõhvi)

Jõhvi Castle Church (Rakvere Str 6, Jõhvi)

We will visit the museum of Jõhvi Castle Church and its tower. The museum is located in the vaulted cellars under the altar of St. Michael’s Church, which are connected to the upper level by narrow passages. The first cellar includes a model of the church predating the Livonian War, as a castle church surrounded by a defensive enclosure. The glass painting covering the western wall of the cellar tells the story of the tragic events of the Livonian War and the legend of the two brothers behind the birth of the church.
