Global Estonian diaspora

Around 200 000 people with Estonian roots live abroad. Their large numbers underline the need to strengthen our ties with our compatriots. It is important to provide them with more opportunities to keep in touch with Estonia, thereby increasing the cohesion of Estonian society and the Estonian community worldwide.

Interest in returning to Estonia has been growing in recent years: around 7000 people with Estonian roots return to Estonia every year. This clearly demonstrates the need for more support for their smooth integration into Estonian society by offering a variety of services and activities and by expanding their support network.
