Come on a guided walk to discover the urban space of Tallinn!
This is a series of activities supporting the learning of the Estonian language for adults whose mother tongue is not Estonian. As part of the series, we will discover different areas of Tallinn together with an Estonian-speaking guide. We will get to know the urban space and attractions and discover interesting historical connections.
This time, we will visit Pirita Convent and its ruins. Where did the idea of founding the Pirita Convent come from? Who is considered the founder of the Bridgettine Order and what made the order unique? How long did the construction of the Pirita Convent last? How many years could the Pirita Convent operate in the Middle Ages? What was life in the convent like? What does a double monastery mean? What did the sisters and brothers of the convent do? How was Pirita Convent affected by the Livonian War and what happened to Pirita Convent next? Let us find out together.
Participants can practice the Estonian language and learn more about the culture and history of Estonia.
